The Darbar team, which has a combined relevant professional experience of over 100 years, are all involved in music in different ways includes:
- Sandeep Virdee, , the Artistic Director, taught tabla alongside his late father, one of the most respected teachers in the UK for over 30 years. He was also involved in TAAL Rhythms of India, the leading Tabla promoter in the UK, who put on concerts, In Conversation sessions with artists, and teaching workshops. Sandeep is also an experienced amateur photographer and video cameraman.
- Ashok Patel and Alpesh Patel set up Sense World Music, a leading ICM record label in the UK. Sense has also been recording Saptak Festival for several years. Together they have experience in dealing with artists, event management and the recording industry.
- Derek Roberts is the sound engineer with live event and studio recording experience.
- Kulbir Natt has many year’s experience in journalism, marketing and fundraising. Among other places he has worked at the BBC and Financial Times.
- Rajen Mistry experience in design has helped design the website, posters, flyers, brochures and other programme material.
- Dharambir Singh is a leading sitar player in the UK and Indian Classical Music musicologist. He is a NESTA fellow; a lecturer in Indian Music at Leeds University; set up SAA-UK 1997, a leading South Asian Arts organisation. His specialises in Indian Music training and has a FTLC qualification from Trinity College. He’s working on an Indian music accreditation programme and is an Advisor on an Indian Music degree at Bharti Vidya Bhavan, London.
