DARBAR SOUTH ASIAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
Three days - 25 hours of music - Morning, afternoon and evening concerts -Dozens of artists - 20 musical traditions.
Within the space of two short years, Darbar has put in place an extraordinary Festival of Indian Classical Music in Leicester.

The 2008 Festival (April 4th to 6th) includes established artists like the multi-talented Pandit Nayan Ghosh on Tabla and Sitar, Surbahar maestro Irshad Khan and Uday Bhawalkar representing the ancient tradition of Dhrupad.

Rising stars include the versatile vocal virtuoso Kaushiki Chakrabarty and the brilliant Purbayan Chatterjee on Sitar.

British talents rubbing shoulders with overseas greats include: Tarun Jasani on Sarod; Bhupinder Chaggar on Tabla; Kaviraj Singh on Santoor and Upneet Singh on Tabla.

And check out the Suñev ensemble bringing together Tabla, the electronic Rai violin, Saxophone and various drums to create innovations from age-old musical traditions.
